Rates gave a little back: the 30-year mortgage slipped to 7.32% in Freddie Mac’s Oct. 22 survey after two weeks at 7.40%, its highest since November 2023.
The 5-year Treasury, which most DSCR loans price off, sits near 4.84%, down 19 basis points in a month but still 110 above where it started the year.
The Fed is expected to hold Wednesday, but all 100 economists in a Reuters poll see a December hike, and Thursday’s PCE inflation print could push yields back up first.
This is a window, not a trend, and STR sellers facing slow-season carrying costs will favor the buyer who can close before year-end. A pre-qual letter from a trusted STR lender is key to win more offers.
